Karachi: Facebook has blocked a page of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned outfit of militants, which was allegedly being used for recruitments. |
The page was recruiting for positions like video editor, translator and writer of “Jihadi current affairs” and Islamic movements for a new quarterly magazine called ‘Ahyah-e-Khilafat’ (Sign of the Caliphate), the daily Los Angeles Times reported.
The US paper also raised a question: “Why terrorist organizations are having Internet outlets to spread their messages?”
“The most interesting part of the page may be those more than 250 people, who “liked” it. Showing yourself as a ‘Friend’ of known terrorist group was beyond explanation,” LA Times said.
“The government should have tracked down the page as FBI had monitored the social network as a part of certain terrorist investigations in the past and in some cases even used it as evidence.”
