'Taliban inmates brutally tortured in Pakistani jails'

Islamabad: Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has blamed Pakistani authorities of torturing Taliban prisoners in different jails across the country.

In a letter released by TTP’s Umar Media, an alleged prisoner, Abu Laila, in Sukkur jail revealed that the prisoners were brutally tortured by the security officials of the country during their shifting from Karachi to Sukkur jail.
“After shifting in September we were kept nude and tortured brutally for six days. They forced us walk all through the jail in that condition. A lame prisoner lost his leg completely during the torture,” the letter said.
Abu appealed his leadership to avenge the torture. Umar media did not reveal the source which brought out the letter from the jail.
Earlier, Interior Ministry warned about the threats of terrorist attacks on different jails across Sindh including Karachi Central Jail.
The letter is revealed on the time when Pakistan government has released almost 18 Taliban prisoners in reply Afghan government request.
Senior Pakistani journalist and anchor-person Hamid Mir said that prisoners from different Pakistani Taliban groups were dealt differently. Famous for his criticism on security institutions for their attitude, Hamid, also accused that the missing persons were also tortured in jails and torture cells of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, ‘RTI Live’ tried to contact Sindh information Minister Sharjeel Memon to ask about the threats of Taliban vengeance but he was not available.
